The Procedure of All-on-4 Dental Implants

Phase 1: Initial Consultation, Assessment and Planning

Initial Consultation

Your initial consultation will take place at Tooth Doctor in Essex and Thurrock. You’ll have a thorough conversation with Dr Anmol Patel, our experienced implant dentist, to discuss your dental concerns, preferences, and potential treatment options. We encourage you to ask questions so you fully understand the All-on-4 procedure and our team before making any decisions.

During your examination, Dr Anmol Patel will evaluate your remaining teeth and gums, taking photographs to determine if same-day dental implants are the right choice for you. At Tooth Doctor, we prioritise your comfort and understand any dental anxieties you may have. Our goal is to restore your smile and confidence by addressing your need for implants. Feel free to browse our independently verified patient reviews for reassurance.

Assessment

After your initial consultation, if you and Dr Anmol Patel determine that All-on-4 dental implants are suitable, the next step is a computerised CBCT scan. This advanced X-ray provides our implant team with detailed images of your jaws and teeth, enabling analysis of bone quantity, location, and quality beneath the gums. This assessment confirms your eligibility for All-on-4 dental implants. Impressively, our implants are often suitable for individuals with severe gum disease and jawbone loss, potentially avoiding the need for bone graft surgery. If All-on-4 is not an option, we’ll discuss alternative treatments.

Planning

After you decide on the All-on-4 dental implant procedure, we’ll schedule your surgery to align with your preferred times. We’ll also set up appointments for pre and post-surgery tasks like taking impressions. Consistent communication keeps you informed and reassured at every stage. If necessary, we’ll work with your doctor or dentist to ensure smooth care. Before the procedure, we conduct a virtual surgery using a 3D model of your jawbone to meticulously plan each step. Our comprehensive preparations aim to give you complete peace of mind throughout the process.

Phase 2: Surgery Day

During the surgical appointment, All-on-4 Dental Implants are efficiently placed, restoring your smile and confidence in just a few hours. Dr Anmol Patel will extract any remaining teeth and insert implants to act as secure roots for new artificial teeth. You’ll receive fixed, natural-looking provisional teeth on the same day for immediate aesthetic improvement. If you opt for sedation, we advise having a companion to accompany you home after the surgery.

Sedation

The All-on-4 Dental Implant surgery starts with optional sedation for a comfortable, pain-free experience, alongside careful numbing. Many patients prefer conscious sedation, providing a relaxed and calm state similar to a dream-like experience. You remain awake but often without any memory of the procedure. Our expert anaesthetists ensure that conscious sedation is safe and avoids the typical risks of general anaesthesia. If you choose not to have sedation, the implant placement remains pain-free.

Implant Placement

Typically, we place four implants in each jaw, employing the All-on-4 technique. Each implant is strategically angled to optimise available bone, ensuring a precise fit and optimal stability for the custom artificial teeth bridge. Our advanced dental implant system incorporates a built-in angle, enhancing the foundation for your new replacement teeth with added strength.

New Teeth Placement

After your dental implant surgery, meticulous measurements are taken, and our skilled laboratory technicians craft your personalised teeth while you relax. Crafted on the treatment day for customised excellence, these replacement teeth not only enhance your appearance but also restore bite and chewing function, aiding in the healing process. Dr Anmol Patel securely places and supports your new teeth with the dental implants, allowing you to admire your stunning new smile in the mirror for the first time!

Take-Home Implant Care Kit

Upon departure, our team will provide a personalised implant care kit, featuring essential medications and oral hygiene items. Comprehensive instructions, including post-care expectations, are included. Our after-hours telephone numbers are available for any questions or concerns.

Phase 3: Healing

Following surgery, your new teeth will remain firmly in place day and night as your bone integrates with the implants. About three months later, we will fit your permanent teeth in a non-surgical visit. Caring for your implants and new teeth is straightforward. It’s important to follow dietary guidelines and maintain good oral hygiene in the first two months to ensure successful healing. You can count on us to offer all the guidance and information you need.
